As football teams around the Pac-12 preps for games on this upcoming Saturday, there are multiple storylines with in the Pac that need to be closely watched. Many were shocked when Arizona fire head football coach Mike Stoops following Saturdays defeat at the hands of the Oregon State Beavers (the same Beavers that lost to a middle of the road FCS foe in Sacramento State). Are any coaching jobs on the line this week in the Pac-12? Find out after the jump.
I remember when the Stanford Cardinal used to be horrible bad, I then remember that my Cougs were also that bad during my life time as well. The Stanford Cardinal has simply dominated any and every team they have faced (keep in mind their best wins are over a 3-3 WSU & Duke). They face their biggest challenge this Saturday in the #22 Washington Huskies. The game will be played in Palo Alto. Can the Huskies take it to Stanford? Or will Stanford do what Stanford has done (letting opponents hang in for the first 40 minutes of the game)?
Last season the Cougars of Washington State marched into Corvallis as 20 point underdogs. They left as 17 point victors. The upset of the Beavers is (by some) considered that breakthrough moment for Paul Wulff’s program. The question is, was that victory really that big? Can the Cougs overcome their 30 point loss to Stanford during the Homecoming Game? Has Oregon State figured out how to stop a running QB? Running Back Jerome Harrison (Once a Coug always a Coug) was taking a post-trade physical when a brain tumor was discovered. Get well soon Jerome.
Arizona canned their head coach. Who will the Wildcats blame if they lose this week to Rick Neuhisel and the Bruins? Is Rick’s seat as hot as Stoop’s? Who knows?
How hot is USC’s Lane Kiffin’s seat? If he loses to the Irish will he be gone after this season? Who here thinks that the Irish will get to a BCS Bowl this year?
How much is beat-up Oregon going to beat Colorado by? Can the Buffalos come even close to slowing the Ducks?
It’s a battle of two team who have yet to win a Pac-12 game, the Utes and the Golden Bears. Has Golden Bears Coach Jeff Tedford’s seat suddenly become warm? Can the Utes knock the Bears into the bay? We shall see.
