Well this is pretty self-explanatory^.  I’ve been waiting for this moment for a long time and I’m really excited for the season to come.  The rest of the NFL’s teams kickoff their season this Sunday and Monday in a battle for ultimate supremacy.    There’s a lot of story lines and drama to look at, and that’s why I think this might be the best NFL season yet.  Let’s take a look at the slate.

Colts versus Bears

Day one of the Andrew Luck era kicks off tomorrow, and this is probably one of the most anticipated starts for a rookie in a long time.  You know who (not Voldemort) is gone now, and we get to see just what this kid can do.  The Bears won’t be an easy task though, with gun-slinger Jay Cutler and Brandon Marshall throwing deep balls to one another, as well as Matt Forte returning strong from an injury.  The Bears are favored by ten points, and I expect the Colts to cover, but winning seems to be too tough of a task.

Eagles versus Browns

Sorry I can’t see any way the Browns can win this one.

Patriots versus Titans

Same with the Titans in this one.

My Pick:  Patriots

Falcons versus Chiefs

This is one of those games where it’s either going to really close or the Falcons are gonna blow it out.  Kansas City added a quality rusher in Peyton Hillis, and they have Dwayne Bowe, but I think the Falcons offense is too much for the Kansas City D.  Expect Matt Ryan to throw it deep to play makers Roddy White, Julio Jones, and Tony Gonzalez; and for Michael Turner to tear it up.

My Pick:  Falcons

Jaguars versus Vikings

This could get a battle of the running backs.  Maurice Jones-Drew is coming back from tough contract negotiations, and All-Day runner Adrian Peterson is coming from an ACL injury that ended his season last year.  It wouldn’t be surprising at all for both rushers to have big games.  Both teams suck major A though, but the Vikings suck less.

My Pick:  Vikings

Redskins versus Saints

To say its been a tumultuous off season for the Saints would be an understatement.  Somehow the NFL Appeals board (which probably has less intelligence than the Republican Party) overturned the bounty suspensions for Jonathan Vilma and his sly cohorts.  Sean Peyton is still suspended for a year though, so the Saints will be without a decent coach for a while.  This game could be good because RGIII is a dynamic play maker who can both run and pass.  This could turn out to be an upset, and I can see it happening, I just can’t pull the trigger.

Bills versus Jets

Now I’ll admit I’m a Jets fan and I’m a little biased about this one, but think of it this way.  They’re playing the BUFFALO BILLS!  That’s like shooting fish in a barrel.  Mark Sanchez knows how to win games so expect him to come out determined and ready to play tomorrow.  Tebow can keep his seat warm and preach scripture.  The Bills have some good pieces, but I don’t think Mario Williams is enough to keep pace in the AFC East.

Rams versus Lions

I like the Lions resurgence.  It’s one thing being the butt of every joke for the last 40-50 years, but actually going out and becoming a powerhouse, that’s something new.  Matthew Stafford has really come into his own and All-Pro wide out Calvin Johnson is a monster.  The Rams aren’t going to contain him.

Dolphins versus Texans

Seriously sometimes it’s too easy.

49ers versus Packers

This might just be the game of the week for the NFC.  If it wasn’t for a Green bay collapse this very well could have been the NFC Title game.  The Niners posses a stingy defense and a strong running game led by Frank Gore.  While the Packers have an arsenal of weapons that would make North Korea’s nuclear reactors look like Lego’s by comparison.  I trust Aaron Rodgers and Greg Jennings though, Alex Smith not so much.

My Pick:  Packers

Seahawks versus Cardinals

This looks like a very interesting match up.  Russell Wilson has looked phenomenal during the preseason and he looks poised to lead a very deep and talented Seattle passing attack.  Marshawn Lynch is a game-time decision (which sucks for my fantasy team), but the Hawks should pull this one out easy.  You aren’t going to strike a lot of fear into people with John Skelton as your quarterback.

Panthers versus Buccaneers

Both are strong young franchises.  Carolina has their quarterback of the future in Cam Newton, and Tampa Bay has theirs in Josh Freeman.  The Bucs also added Vincent Jackson as an additional weapon giving Freeman an additional target to throw to.  The Bucs defense isn’t as good as it once was, so expect Newton to tear it up (which is great for my fantasy team).

Steelers versus Broncos

OH YAH!  This is the game everyone is looking forward to.  Peyton Manning’s return, Pittsburgh looking for payback, a crowd in Denver going nuts…this might be the game of the week (at least for the AFC).  Pittsburgh has a strong defense and a tough veteran quarterback in Ben Roethlisberger.  Expect Big Ben to make a lot of deep plays to outside receivers Antonio Brown (also on my fantasy team), and Mike Wallace.  Peyton Manning will also make big plays as well, especially with Demayrius Thomas and Erick Decker catching passes from him.  Manning wins out though because he’s too determined to let a one-year hiatus end in a loss.

Bengals versus Ravens

We end Week 1 with the premiere of two games on Monday Night Football.  This divisional rivalry could be a good one.  Andy Dalton had an impressive rookie season and so did A.J. Green.  While Joe Flacco stepped up last season and an already awesome Ravens defense continued to stay awesome.  Dalton was 0-4 against the Ravens and Steelers last season though, so until he doesn’t poop his pants against strong defenses, I’m gonna go with the other team.

Chargers versus Raiders

I don’t know if this is just me, but I have no confidence in the Chargers anymore.  They keep on screwing up.  They were supposed to win the division last year, and the year before that, but they underperformed again.  Let’s see what other word starts with c…?  I expect raiders running back Darren McFadden to break out and just annihilate this Chargers defense and…you guessed it, he’s on my fantasy team.
