Here’s Week 2

Well without further ado let’s preview Week 2’s NFL games, starting with today’s Packers/Bears match up.

Bears versus Packers

(1-0-0)

(0-1-0)

This is an interesting game.  Not only does this rivalry have a lot of history, but a lot of games have decided division titles and had playoff implications in recent years.  Green Bay comes off of a tough loss to the Niners, while the Bears enjoyed a nice blowout over Indianapolis.  A lot of people are calling this a must win game for Green Bay.  The Packers have done little to slow down top offenses so look for the Bears Matt Forte and Brandon Marshall to have big games.  The Packers have a good offense, but the Bears have a good O and D.  Not to mention Devin Hester.

My Pick:  Bears

Buccaneers versus Giants

(1-0-0)

(0-1-0)

The Bucs are coming off of a win against Carolina while the Giants had a crushing loss to Dallas to start off the NFL season.  The Bucs had a good showing by Josh Freeman, but I think the Giants strong defense is going to hold him down and the team as a whole will bounce back.

My Pick:  Giants

Raiders versus Dolphins

(0-1-0)

(0-1-0)

Let’s be honest here.  The Dolphins suck and they’re in for a long 2012.  Darren McFadden is going to make this one a long day for Dolphins fans.

My Pick:  Raiders

Texans versus Jaguars

(1-0-0)

(0-1-0)

Again this is another easy one.  The Jaguars had a strong showing against Minnesota, but the don’t have the strong defense that the Texans have.  Plus while the Jags do have MJD, the Texans still have the big three of Arian Foster, Matt Schaub, and Andre Johnson.  The Texans will be 2-0 against the state of Florida after Sunday.

My Pick:  Texans

Browns versus Bengals

(0-1-0)

(0-1-0)

The Browns are better than people think they are.  Cleveland almost beat a very good Eagles team that a lot of people predicted were going to the Super Bowl (including me).  However, with that being said I trust Andy Dalton more as a quarterback and the Bengals have more talent in general.  Sorry there isn’t much you can do about that.

My Pick:  Bengals

Chiefs versus Bills

(0-1-0)

(0-1-0)

This could be a great game.  These two teams have equal talent and they are both looking to rebound off of tough week 1 blowouts.  C.J. Spiller turned in a strong performance, but the Chiefs look like they have a better quarterback in Matt Cassel.  Having a good quarterback is everything in this league, which is one of the reasons why I think Kansas City has an edge.

My Pick:  Chiefs

Ravens versus Eagles

(1-0-0)

(1-0-0)

This one features my two Super Bowl picks going against each other.  Baltimore had a dominant performance against Cincinnati while Philly just barely squeaked out a win against the lowly Browns.  If you’re going to be a championship team you can’t throw interceptions, and Michael Vick had four of them last week.  If Vick’s not careful, he could have more against a tougher Ravens defense.

My Pick:  Ravens

Saints versus Panthers

(0-1-0)

(0-1-0)

Both of these teams should be 1-0 right now.  Things happen in the NFL though and there are still 15 games left to go.  The Saints still have a high octane offense and they just made a few really stupid mistakes that cost them the game against the redskins.  Carolina is improving, but that defense still has question marks on it.  The Saints offense is definitely going to bounce back in this one.

My Pick:  Saints

Cardinals versus Patriots

(1-0-0)

(1-0-0)

Sorry Cardinals fans, this one is too easy.

My Pick:  Patriots

I hate the Pats!

Vikings versus Colts

(1-0-0)

(0-1-0)

I love this match up.  The Vikings are looking to start 2-0 for the first time since 2009, the year they went to the NFC Title game, while the Colts are looking for the first win of the Andrew Luck era.  This could come down to the last minute, so expect for there to be plenty of drama.  Adrian Peterson is good, but I think Andrew Luck ultimately saves the day.

My Pick:  Colts

Redskins versus Rams

(1-0-0)

(0-1-0)
—

RGIII put on a clinic for how you start that first game of your NFL career.  He ultimately got the Skins a win.  The Rams meanwhile squandered away a very winnable game against the Lions.  I don’t think the Rams defense is strong enough to contain RGIII.  The fireworks are going to continue in St. Louis.

My Pick:  Redskins

Cowboys versus Seahawks

(1-0-0)

(0-1-0)

This is another game where both teams should be 1-0 but mistakes or bad luck otherwise derailed them.  The Seahawks are coming off a tough loss to Arizona while the Cowboys had a strong opening night win against the Giants.  I think the Seahawks have a lot of good parts, and they make for a great team so far, but Dallas just has that much more talent.  Sorry Seahawks fans.

My Pick:  Cowboys

Jets versus Steelers

(1-0-0)

(0-1-0)

This looks like a great game.  Mark Sanchez is coming off of a strong performance in week 1, while Pittsburgh is looking to bounce back at home.  The Steelers have more talent overall but they also might be without James Harrison in week 2.  The Jets have momentum on their side, but they need to beat a quality team to show that they’re “real” this season.  Call me crazy but I think they do just that.

My Pick:  Jets

Titans versus Chargers

(0-1-0)

(1-0-0)
—

Titans QB Jake Locker has yet to show me that he can beat any powerhouses in the AFC.  I expect for him to struggle against San Diego.  It’s going to be loud especially since the Chargers just came off a huge win against cross-town rival Oakland.  Expect that success to continue.

My Pick:  Chargers

Lions versus Niners

(1-0-0)

(1-0-0)

Oh boy here comes the Sunday Night game.  Is Schwartz going to get payback?  Will Harbaugh prove his team’s for real?  I think he does.  The Niners came off a strong win against Green Bay while Detroit struggled against St. Louis.  If you’re going to rule the NFC you need to beat inferior competition by more than that.

My Pick:  Niners

Broncos versus Falcons

(1-0-0)

(1-0-0)

Who would have thought, Peyton Manning in back-to-back primetime games…that was sarcasm children.  This looks like a great matchup.  Both Matt Ryan and Peyton Manning are going to air it out there so it all depends on the defense for both squads.  Denver’s is better, call that a hunch.  Atlanta’s secondary just isn’t filling me with confidence.

My Pick:  Broncos

Well there you have it here’s week 2.  Hope you enjoyed it!

My Record:  10-6

See you next week!
