HOHOHOrrible

The HOHOHOrrible moment of the week (sorry this is late)

(2) Indiana 72

(26-5, 14-4 Big Ten)

(7) Michigan 71

(25-6, 12-6 Big Ten)

The Michigan Wolverines should change their name to the Washington State Cougars.

They borrowed a page from WSU’s playbook and decided to “Coug It” in the final minute.

Up 71-66 with 52 seconds to go the Wolverines had the game in the bag…or so I thought.  Then Cody Zeller makes a shot with 41 seconds left to make it 71-68.  Ok no big deal, Michigan will still win this.  Then Tim Hardaway Jr. gets fouled and misses a free throw giving the ball back to Indiana.  Cody Zeller makes two free throws with 30 seconds to go to cut Michigan’s lead to one.

OK NOW YOU CAN PANIC!

But thankfully Big Ten Player of the Year Trey Burke gets the ball and all is well.  After all he did make a clutch dunk against Michigan State last week.

But he misses his free throws too.

Ok, seriously.  Do you want to lose traction in a conference where one game means the difference between a high seed in the NCAA tournament and a tough match-up with Georgetown or Syracuse in the Sweet 16?

Apparently Michigan did as Zeller made a layup to make it 72-71.

Not to mention Burke misses probably the easiest layup you could probably make in the final seconds.  Seriously my sister could have made that shot.

Regardless, this is a devastating loss for U-M.  Surprisingly they actually moved up in the poll from #7 to #6.

But they fell to #5 in their own conference.

That’s the way the cookie crumbles.  At least they have the Big Ten Tournament.

HOHOHO!
