These are my picks for the game ESPN College Pick’em.  As you can see the ones at the top are the games that I have the most confidence in, while the ones at the bottom are ones where I think the upset can be pulled off, but I don’t think they quite will.  I love my Washington State Cougars, but while Oregon State did lose to Eastern Washington, I still think that OSU is too formidable of a team to place this upset higher on my list.

As you can tell my Oregon versus UW pick is the highest on the pecking order.  While UW did play quite well on “The Farm” against Stanford last week, Oregon is just that much better.  If UW loses and WSU wins, the Cougs will jump the Huskies in the PAC-12 standings, which is something all of us Cougs will really enjoy.

Pretty much the more of the vote you get, the more likely I will be to pick you.  The only cases where I took the team with the lowest percentage was both Wisconsin and WSU at home.  I chose WSU because well I’m a Coug, but the reason I picked Wisconsin was because of their home-field advantage.  Northwestern almost upset Ohio State, but Wisconsin almost beat them too and the Badgers had to travel to Ohio State versus having the blessing Northwestern had of playing them at home.  This is why I think Wisconsin has the edge.

I have confidence in both Michigan and Texas A&M, but the reason why the Wolverines are higher is because they just got off a thrashing of Minnesota, while A&M might be a little rusty coming off of their bye week.  This is the SEC after all, and no opponent in that conference can be taken lightly.

That’s not the case for #7 Georgia hosting recently ranked Missouri.  The Tigers are going to be way too overwhelmed in this one.  I also don’t trust Flordia considering that their loss to Miami(FL) still looms.  Considering the struggles the Gators had against the Hurricanes, I don’t think they will stand much of a chance against LSU, especially because they’re playing at home.

Home-Field advantage is huge in college football.  If you play well at home and you’re playing an evenly matched team you are more likely than not going to win the game…unless of course you’re the Alabama Crimson Tide but that’s a post for another day.  Texas and Oklahoma is a neutral site game, but this week I picked the home team 5 out of 9 times.  BYU and Georgia Tech are the perfect example of two evenly matched opponents.  However, BYU has a little bit of a winning streak, and Tech just got off of losses to both Virginia Tech and Miami (FL).  That’s why I picked BYU, the hotter hand in that matchup.

Well that’s all for coverage.  Hope all is going well, and a big shoutout to all the Cougs and their dads on this marvelous Dad’s Weekend.

Stay classy everyone.

My Record: 16-15
