The Washington State women’s basketball team is trailing the Oregon State Beavers 33-37 at the half in Beasley Coliseum. Oregon State has taken advantage of a balanced offensive attack to keep the Cougar defense off-balance.
Oregon State went on a 10-0 run after tying WSU with about 10 minutes left in the first half. The Cougs struggled to stop the Beavers on the defensive end of the court as OSU was hitting shots from all over the court — in fact, the Beavers have four players with six or more points. Washington State slowed down the Beavs after Coach Daugherty made the decision to switch over to the full court press with about six minutes left in the half.
The Cougs went on a 7-0 run that forced the Beavers to switch over to the full court press as well. Both offenses bean to slow down, but WSU continued to chip away at the Beavers lead; Mariah Cooks hit a three pointer to close OSU’s lead to three, 34-31.
Currently Lia Galdeira leads all scorers with 15 points.
