As you can see they are doing quite well to start the season.  Sure it’s spring training, but for the first time in a long time I’m actually excited for the start of Mariners baseball.

I listened to the end of Game 1 on the radio as I exited my grandmother’s house on Whidbey.  Cano went 1 for 1 on the day, and it looked like he might actually work out for the team.  I also caught the middle to the end of Game 2 yesterday as I was driving to McDonald’s for a high calorie snack.  I was very surprised to see the final score because normally the Mariners don’t blow teams out like this.

The defining game was today as I was driving to make a quick ATM deposit.  The Mariners were up 3-0, and being the typical pessimistic fan that I am, I assumed that with the bases loaded Dustin Ackley would fly out and retire the side.  He actually had an RBI and while Smoak was out at the plate in the bottom of the 3rd inning, the M’s at least were able to generate some offense.

I know this is the preseason of baseball, and I know that I shouldn’t be getting my hopes up too much, but the Mariners might actually be good this year.

I think that they will finish the regular season with at least a .500 record.

Let’s take this thing one miracle at a time.
