College Football Week 2 Picks

Well the Washington State Cougars are 0-2 on the year and since I was too depressed to post anything yesterday I’ve decided to wait until right before kickoff to USC/Stanford. Seriously, we need to stop couging it. Anyways onward and upward.

#14 USC at #13 Stanford

(14) USC

(1-0, 0-0 away)

(13) Stanford

(1-0, 1-0 home)

USC edged out Stanford in a 20-17 thriller in Los Angeles last year. Both come off of blowouts of Week 1 opponents. Trojans quarterback Cody Kessler threw for 394 yards and 4 touchdowns in the opener against Fresno State. Stanford doesn’t lose on the farm though, and they have a 17 game home winning streak. Stanford also ranks #5 in total defense and that just might be enough to give them an edge here.

My Pick: Stanford

#7 Michigan State at #3 Oregon

(7) Michigan State

(1-0, 0-0 away)

(3) Oregon

(1-0, 1-0 home)

Oregon has one of the toughest home-field advantages in the country, not to mention Marcus Mariota a Heisman candidate. Still I’m going for the upset here. Michigan State has a phenomenal defense, leading the country last year. Also Conner Cook has performed brilliantly in big games with upsets over Ohio State in the Big Ten title game and Stanford in the Rose Bowl last year. Sparty gets the win and moves up in the polls.

My Pick: Michigan State

My Record: 1-2

At least the Cougs play Portland State next week.
