College Football Week 9 Review

I am now 11-16 on the year. I will definitely be doing it this way from now on to show my blunders during the season and where I went wrong. Let’s start with a monumental upset in Death Valley.

#3 Ole Miss at #24 LSU

(24) LSU 10

(7-2, 3-2 SEC)

(3) Ole Miss 7

(7-1, 4-1 SEC)

What I thought would happen: Ole Miss would roll to an easy victory based off of strong wins against Alabama and Texas A&M.

What Actually Happened: LSU pulled off an improbable 10-7 upset and shocked a vast majority of the college football world. This all but shatters the current playoff picture.

What I learned: Don’t count out LSU just yet. They are still a decent team and aren’t to be taken lightly despite recent weeks. As for Ole Miss this doesn’t damage their playoff hopes, but it sure doesn’t help them either. They can’t afford to lose again or else they will be left out of the top four this season.

#20 USC at #19 Utah

(19) Utah 24

(6-1, 3-1 Pac-12)

(20) USC 21

(5-3, 4-2 Pac-12)

What I thought would happen: Cody Kessler would build off the seven touchdown passes he had against Colorado and roll over the Utes.

What Actually Happened: Utah scored a last-second touchdown to upset USC at home. They head into a showdown versus Arizona State more or less for the PAC-12 South title.

What I learned: USC threw away their chances to play for the PAC-12 South championship, and now they are left to wonder what might have been. Utah meanwhile would be undefeated (minus a loss to my Washington State Cougars) and should be considered a serious contender in the PAC-12 south. ASU is up 24-10 on UW late in the fourth and more likely than not will win that game, setting up a showdown for the PAC-12 South title. Who would’ve thought it’d be these two teams?

Stay Classy Everyone!
