College Football Week 11 Review

I am now officially back to .500, woohoo! Here is my recap of yesterday’s action.

Baylor at Oklahoma

12) Baylor 48

(8-1, 5-1 Big 12)

(15) Oklahoma 14

(6-3, 3-3 Big 12)

What I Thought was going to happen: Baylor would win this game handily and knock Oklahoma out of the playoff discussion for good.

What Actually Happened: Surprisingly Baylor actually did win this game handily and knock Oklahoma out of the playoff discussion.

What I Learned: Oklahoma is now for sure out of the playoff discussion, but this win probably won’t help Baylor too much. Baylor’s loss to West Virginia will definitely hurt them considering how the Mountaineers laid an egg against Texas yesterday.

Notre Dame at Arizona State

(10) Notre Dame 31

(7-2, 1-2 away)

(9) Arizona State 55

(8-1, 4-1 home)

What I Thought was going to happen: Notre Dame would make a statement win and beat Arizona State in a close game.

What Actually Happened: Notre Dame was blown out of the water by ASU, at one point trailing 34-3. The Fighting Irish attempted a comeback but it was too little too late. ASU now has complete control of the PAC-12 South.

What I Learned: I would like to believe that Notre Dame is good but they are consistently mediocre when they play top competition. This puts them out of the playoff discussion. ASU earned a great win, and as a result they might potentially move into the top six with this victory. The Sun Devils could give Oregon a real run for their money should those two teams meet in the PAC-12 title game.

Kansas State at TCU

(7) Kansas State 20

(7-2, 5-1 Big 12)

(6) TCU 41

(8-1, 5-1 Big 12)

What I Thought was going to happen: TCU would take control of the Big 12 and give Kansas State a lopsided loss.

What Actually Happened: Sure enough what I predicted actually did happen and the Horned Frogs earned themselves a big win.

What I Learned: TCU is worthy of a playoff spot and as long as they keep winning they should be among the top four teams once December 4th rolls around. As for Kansas State this pretty much eliminates them from playoff contention. That loss to Auburn doesn’t look as good considering they lost to Texas A&M yesterday.

Ohio State at Michigan State

(14) Ohio State 49

(8-1, 5-0 Big Ten)

(8) Michigan State 37

(7-2, 4-1 Big Ten)

What I Thought was going to happen: Michigan State was going to steamroll Ohio State for an easy home victory.

What Actually Happened: Ohio State steamrolled Michigan State for an easy road victory.

What I Learned: As good as Michigan State has looked this season, this proves there probably won’t be a Big Ten team in the playoff this year. Ohio State will definitely move up in the rankings, but in my opinion there are too many good one loss teams for them to leapfrog. That loss to Virginia Tech definitely did not help them.

Alabama at LSU

(5) Alabama 20

(8-1, 5-1 SEC)

(16) LSU 13

(7-3, 3-3 SEC)

What I Thought was going to happen: Alabama would get a tough win against LSU and get out of Death Valley with a win.

What Actually Happened: Well it certainly wasn’t easy, but the Crimson Tide got an overtime win over LSU and might have catapulted themselves into the Top four. As for LSU, they have been eliminated from playoff contention.

Oregon at Utah

(4) Oregon 51

(9-1, 6-1 Pac-12)

http://www.sports-logos-screensavers.com/user/Utah_Utes2.jpg

(17) Utah 27

(6-3, 3-3 Pac-12)

What I Thought was going to happen: Oregon would blowout Utah for an easy PAC-12 win.

What Actually Happened: Oregon blewout Utah for an easy PAC-12 win.

What I Learned: I do feel sorry for this guy. It should’ve been 14-0 Utah, but receiver Kaelin Clay celebrated too early and dropped the ball (LITERALLY).

Oregon will probably move to #3 with this victory and either Alabama or TCU (hopefully TCU) will move up to #4 with Auburn’s loss.

Well that’s all for this week. I’m 19-19 overall and the playoff picture is becoming a little clearer.

It also helps the Cougs won too 🙂

Stay Classy Everyone!
