I have now improved to 22-21 with the wins sustained this week. Let’s start with the Week 12 action.
Clemson at Georgia Tech

(19) Clemson 6
(7-3, 6-2 ACC)

(22) Georgia Tech 28
(9-2, 6-2 ACC)
What I Thought was going to Happen: Clemson would win a close game and extend their winning streak over Georgia Tech.
What Actually Happened: Georgia Tech beat Clemson pretty handily and established partial control of the ACC Coastal division. It depends on what happens to Duke but there’s a high likelihood Tech could play Florida State in the ACC Title game.
What I Learned: Clemson misses Sammy Watkins and Tajh Boyd. Quarterback Cole Stoudt was intercepted three times and two were returned for Tech touchdowns. This is definitely a rebuilding season for the Tigers. As for Georgia Tech, they might be meeting Florida State in the ACC Title game and based off of the scare the Seminoles got from Miami tonight, that could be a good game.
Ohio State at Minnesota

(8) Ohio State 31
(9-1, 6-0 Big Ten)

(25) Minnesota 24
(7-3, 4-2 Big Ten)
What I Thought was going to happen: Ohio State was going to cruise to an easy win against Minnesota.
What Actually Happened: Ohio State took control of their own destiny and beat Minnesota in frigid conditions. Minnesota was in it for a while, but turnovers were what did them in.
What I Learned: Minnesota is actually a pretty good football team, and if they can win out and beat both Wisconsin and Nebraska they will face the Buckeyes again in a Big Ten rematch. Ohio State showed that once again they are the class of the Big Ten. We’ll see how far up they go in the rankings.
Mississippi State at Alabama

(1) Mississippi St 20
(9-1, 5-1 SEC)

(5) Alabama 25
(9-1, 6-1 SEC)
What I Thought was going to happen: Alabama would roll to a double digit victory over the Bulldogs.
What Actually Happened: Alabama was once up 19-0, but did not roll to a double digit victory. Mississippi State did come back, but fell just short, failing to recover the onside kick in the closing seconds.
What I Learned: Alabama is back in the fray as a playoff contender. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them move to #1 or #2. As for Mississippi State, they will probably fall out of the top four, and they will need to hope for a miracle or else they will be left in the cold once December 4th hits.
Nebraska at Wisconsin

(16) Nebraska 24
(8-2, 4-2 Big Ten)

(20) Wisconsin 59
(8-2, 5-1 Big Ten)
What I Thought was going to happen: Melvin Gordon was going to have a big game and that would propel the Badgers past Nebraska.
What Actually Happened: Melvin Gordon didn’t just have a big game, he had a humongous game. He set the record for rushing yards with 403 in three quarters.
What I Learned: Expect the Badgers to meet the Buckeyes in the Big Ten title game and challenge them for the Big Ten title. As for Nebraska, this all but knocks them from the rankings. Oh well, always next year.
Auburn at Georgia

(9) Auburn 7
(7-3, 4-3 SEC)

(15) Georgia 34
(8-2, 6-2 SEC)
What I Thought was going to happen: Georgia’s Todd Gurley was going to be a little rusty and the Bulldogs would get run over by Auburn’s rushing attack.
What Actually Happened: Auburn looked rusty and they were bullied by Georgia’s rushing attack.
What I Learned: This all but eliminates Auburn from the college football playoff. As for Georgia, expect for them to take control of the East with this win. It depends on how Missouri does though, so don’t expect for them to be penciled in just yet. Should Alabama win the SEC West, it would be much better for them to face Georgia than Missouri. Oh well, I guess that’s football.
Stay Classy Everyone, enjoy your weekend. I will have the SNF pick up tomorrow.
HOHOHO!
