NCAA Tournament Post #3: So it has come to this….

2015 Oscar Robertson Award winner Frank Kaminsky will have his hands full helping his Wisconsin Badgers score a victory against the undefeated Kentucky Wildcats.

It has been an interesting two weeks of college basketball.  After almost watching the undefeated Kentucky Wildcats lose to a very underrated and highly talented Notre Dame team, it has become clear that there are no gimme’s in this one.  Michigan State is the only non #1 seed in the Final Four, but there will definitely be excitement and fireworks when they tip off against Duke this afternoon.  Let’s preview that game.

Duke Blue Devils Versus Michigan State Spartans

Kind of surprising to think that more people will be tuned into the Kentucky/Wisconsin game rather than this one (granted there aren’t a lot of times teams that pursue a perfect 40-0 season).  This matchup seems to be all about the coaching as we have legendary coach Mick Krzyzewski on the Duke bench and a just as qualified Tom Izzo on Michigan State’s.  The Spartans were routed by the Blue Devils last November, but this definitely isn’t the same team.  All-American forward Jahlil Okafor of Duke faced a lot of double-teams in Sweet 16 and Elite 8 matchups against Utah and Gonzaga, but he will be the difference in this one.  Blue Devils advance.

Wisconsin Badgers versus Kentucky Wildcats

This game could be closer than a lot of people think.  Kentucky is only favored by 4.5 points in this one, and while a lot of people (me included) have already penciled in Kentucky as the champion, the Badgers are definitely a team you don’t want to overlook.  Having Frank Kaminsky, the best player in all of basketball definitely helps, and Sam Dekker, who was lights out from three point land against Arizona in the Elite 8, will definitely help.  If Wisconsin can build some early momentum that should definitely help them.  However, I don’t think that will be enough, because while Kentucky did almost get burned against a Notre Dame team that isn’t as talented as Wisconsin, they won’t be overlooking anyone, especially in the Final Four…

Stay Classy Everyone and enjoy the Final Four!
