Sports with Neil and friends podcast: Mariners, Dodgers, baseball, and beer

Victor and I sat down and recorded the first podcast since the radio show on KUGR came to an end at the beginning of the month. We talked about beer, the Seattle Mariners, the Dodgers, and way more during our first broadcast in nearly a month.

One of the topics that came up during the broadcast that was interesting to me was the struggling Miami Marlins decision to fire the team’s manager in favor of the general manager. It’s a decision that both of us don’t really understand considering the team finished five games under .500, didn’t really add anyone during free agency (other than Dee Gordon), and are still playing without young ace Jose Fernandez. If management honestly thought that the Marlin were going to get off to a hot start in 2015, then they were clearly not ready for reality to smack them in the face.

Other than the Marlins, Robinson Cano’s early struggles were discussed. He’s striking out more, walking less, not hitting with as much power, and has just generally struggled all the way around. It’s been distressing as a fan to watch, and it makes you wonder if he has already begun the process of declining.
