Texans/Patriots Preview

Welcome to another exciting Thursday Night Football post.  Tomorrow’s game will be featuring the Houston Texans traveling to the New England Patriots.  Let us begin.

5:25 PM PT CBS HOU -1.0

Texans

(2-0, 0-0 away)

2-0

Patriots

(2-0, 1-0 Home)

How the Texans Win:  Starting quarterback Brock Osweiler needs to play mistake free football and get the ball to receivers DeAndre Hopkins and surprise rookie sensation Will Fuller.  Their defense also needs to play a complete game like they did against Kansas City when they exorcised their demons of last season’s 30-0 Wild Card defeat.  Even though quarterback Jimmy Garraupolo is doubtful to suit up, don’t underestimate the “Next Man Up” philosophy of New England.

How the Patriots Win: With Garraupolo doubtful and start tight end Rob Gronkowski questionable for the game tomorrow, look for New England to hit the ground running.  LaGarrette Blount has 193 yards rushing and two rushing touchdowns on the season.  Not bad for a team known for running its tailbacks into the ground.  Defense will also be key as well.  Force Osweiler into mistakes and don’t let any of the Houston star receivers get open.

The Bottom Line:  I have gone both ways on this one, but I’m going with the Texans.  Gronk is still questionable to start, and with Garraupolo hurt the Patriots will have more questions than answers on offense.  I won’t be surprised if New England pulls this off, but the Texans are the safe pick here.

Here are my other picks, I am 18-14 so far this year, have a great rest of your week 🙂
