College Football: Conference Championship Week Edition

Hello and welcome to another exciting entry into the College Football season.  Let’s start with tonight’s PAC-12 Championship game.

6:00 PM PT FOX WASH -8.0

8 Colorado

(10-2, 8-1 Pac-12)

10-2

4 Washington

(11-1, 8-1 Pac-12)

The Outlook:  This one may be a little difficult for the Huskies considering how this is on a neutral site field, but the Dawgs have passed every test with flying colors so far.  I’m not quite sold on #4 Washington quite yet considering their best win is currently over #18 Stanford, but they have hade mincemeat out of the PAC-12 so far.  #8 Colorado is the best story in College Football.  Doormat rises up to win PAC-12 South, I love it.  Also if Buffaloes QB Sefo Liufau hadn’t of gotten hurt against #5 Michigan, they may have won that game and be in the top 4 right now.  I know I’m biased against UW, but I just don’t trust them quite yet in big games.

#8 Colorado Wins

9:30 AM PT FOX OKLA -11.5

10 Oklahoma State

(9-2, 7-1 Big 12)

9-2

9 Oklahoma

(9-2, 8-0 Big 12)

The Outlook:  I don’t think either team is going to the College Football Playoff.  Both suffered some early losses this season but have stepped up when it mattered most.  #10 Oklahoma State’s loss to Central Michigan technically shouldn’t count considering it was against NCAA rules to give CMU an untimed extra down.  Sooners quarterback Baker Mayfield has been in these games before, so I’m giving it to the Sooners based off their recent streak.  Cowboys QB Mason Rudolph should make it close, but I don’t think it’ll be enough

#9 Oklahoma Wins

1:00 PM PT CBS ALA -24.0

1 Alabama

(12-0, 8-0 SEC)

12-0

15 Florida

(8-3, 6-2 SEC)

The Outlook:  Let’s be real here, not even Tim Tebow could save these Gators against this Alabama team.  On to the next one.

#1 Alabama Wins

5:00 PM PT ABC CLEM -10.5

3 Clemson

(11-1, 7-1 ACC)

11-1

23 Virginia Tech

(9-3, 6-2 ACC)

The Outlook:  Conventional wisdom tells you not to overthink this and take Clemson.  However, poor clock management did cost #3 Clemson against #25 Pittsburgh.  Also Jerod Evans is a pretty decent dual threat QB that the Hokies have at their disposal.  As long as the Tigers don’t ignore that threat they should be fine in this one and clinch a spot in the College Football Playoff.

#3 Clemson Wins

5:00 PM PT FOX WIS -3.0

6 Wisconsin

(10-2, 7-2 Big Ten)

10-2

7 Penn State

(10-2, 8-1 Big Ten)

The Outlook:  No one predicted this.  I still have no idea how Penn State got here.  Weird tiebreakers and all that.  Anyways I am predicting a Badger victory because this team has been here before, #7 Penn State got a lucky win against #2 Ohio State, and I don’t think that defense will be able to prevent Corey Clement from running the football.  Wisconsin advances and locks up the final Playoff spot.

#6 Wisconsin Wins

I think the playoff will feature in this order:

#1 Alabama

#2 Clemson

#3 Ohio State

#4 Wisconsin

Stay Classy everyone and have a good weekend 🙂
