Packers/Lions Preview

Hello and welcome to the final post of the 2016 NFL regular season.  I’m 150-88-2 on the year.  Let’s get started with the most important game of Week 17’s 2016 season (even though it will be played in 2017).

5:30 PM PT NBC GB -3.5

Packers

(9-6, 3-4 away)

9-6

Lions

(9-6, 6-1 Home)

How Green Bay Wins:  Continue what you have been doing in your five game winning streak.  This team was left for dead 5-6 weeks ago with a 4-6 record and look at them now.  I expect for the Packers to come out with a balanced attack and run the ball early and often with Ty Montgomery.  As long as there’s a good mix of run and pass the Packers should win this one quite handily.  Aaron Rodgers has been here before.

How Detroit Wins:  Two words, Zach Zenner.  Zenner played very well against the Cowboys on Monday and he could be the Lions running back of the future.  As long as Matthew Stafford has a clean pocket to throw from, Detroit will have more than a chance in this one as they look to clinch their first divison title since 1993.  Playing in front of an intense Ford Field crowd will also help the Lions too.

The Bottom Line:  Very close, but I think the Packers take this one.  Green Bay has too much momentum right now and I’m not quite sold on the Lions in big games against top competition.  Packers take the NFC North once again, and the Lions have to settle for a Wild Card at best (if the Redskins don’t win).

Here is the rest of Week 17, Happy New Year 🙂
