Sunday Funday: Seattle’s Bullpen can be nasty

In a 4-3 win on Saturday, the three members of the bullpen that came out of the Mariners bullpen were absolutely dominant to shut the door on the White Sox. Nick Vincent, Steve Cishek, and Edwin Diaz combined to go three innings while only giving up one hit and scoring three strikeouts.

Of the four pitches shown in the video above, the movement on Vincent’s is my favorite. The bottom just drops out of the ball and it goes from being at mid-thigh on Matt Davidson to his knee and it completely freezes the Sox’s designated hitter.

It was a thing of beauty.

It’s tantalizing to imagine what this bullpen could become if they get the support needed from their starting staff and offense. Because of the movement on their pitches can be outright dominating at times. Seattle is going to need the bullpen to be dominant if the M’s are going to get back into the playoff race.
