Oakland Athletics’ starting pitcher Sonny Gray is known for having nasty stuff. During his last start against the Toronto Blue Jays, he made their fearsome line-up look quiet silly.

So far in 2017, Gray has been effective in the 15 games he’s started. In 91 innings, the career Athletic has pitched 3.66/3.38/3.41 (ERA/FIP/xFIP) while striking out 8.41 batters per nine innings. Gray has only pitched in 15 games this season because of a strained lat that caused him to miss the first three weeks of the season.
Unfortunately for Oakland, the Athletics record currently 43-54 and they’re 22 games back in the west — as well as 7.5 back in the Wildcard race. Oakland is already starting the process of selling, which means that it’s likely that Gray will be moved by the non-waiver trade deadline on July 21st.
