Cougar football fall camp, Mike Leach, have been relaxed

It took six days for head coach Mike Leach too get angry over a unit’s poor performance during fall camp; it was the back-up offensive linemen. That’s abnormal for coach, at least during his tenure on the Palouse, as he’s previously had a some pretty good rants during previous camps.

But it’s not just the head coach that’s been relaxed this season, the team has been relaxed this season. Just look at the below video where running backs Jamal Morrow and Gerard Wicks video bomb a teammate’s post practice interview…with a golf cart.

The team is out there having fun together in fall camp, and I don’t know when the last time we saw the program have this much fun (publically) during fall camp. It’s going to be interesting see how this relaxed atmosphere in fall camp translates to the season, especially with the number of returning starters the offense has coming back.

Luke Falk decided to come back for his senior seasons instead of leaving early for the NFL, which is a pretty big deal — in case you didn’t already know. And he’ll be returning behind an incredibly experienced offensive line that is only replacing its starting center — there are three NFL prospects on that offensive line, three. The Cougars will also be returning all three of their running backs this season — Wicks, Morrow, and James Williams — which means that they’ve worked with this offense like and they’ll know when to hit the gaps…or when to help pick up a blitz.

The relaxed atmosphere around camp is good, it’s good to see these guys having fun. Despite the disappointing end to last season, it seems like this team is ready to roll.
