Saints trade RB Peterson for a conditional pick

After a handful of months, the New Orleans Saints have traded running back Adrian Peterson to the Arizona Cardinal’s for a conditional pick.

The decision to move Peterson is primarily because the Saints had absolutely no need for the 32-year old tailback. Peterson had only carried the ball 27 times in five games for 87 yards and he’d only played for a handful more snaps. It wasn’t a good fit between Sean Peyton and the aging star, so New Orleans got rid of him for a draft pick.

As for the Cardinals, their rushing attack is a putrid in 2017 — Arizona is averaging 2.6 yards per carry. They’re hoping that Peterson has something left in his legs to help fix the woeful offense and take some of the pressure off of Carson Palmer. It’ll be interesting to see how Peterson does behind an offensive line that has struggled so far.
