The Boston Red Sox announced that manager John Farrell will not be returning in 2018 after the team failed to advance past the divisional round again.

This move isn’t surprising as there had been frumblings that the Red Sox were unhappy with Farrell’s bullpen management and late game substitutions, especially in the playoffs. So it makes sense that they got rid of him quickly after the exit from the playoffs, now Boston can begin to build a list of candidates to replace him.
The Red Sox won the AL East in 2016 and ’17 but failed to advance past the ALDS in both seasons. We’ll see how Boston’s new manager handles this roster going forward.
