After a blowout loss to Cal on Friday night, Washington State dropped to No. 15 in the AP Poll; while in state rival Washington dropped to No. 12 after a disappointing 7-13 loss in Tempe, Ariz.
Despite the blowout loss, the Cougs are still in the top-15. WSU’s drop in the rankings was probably blunted by the fact that its two signature wins — USC and Boise State — won this weekend. The good news is that Washington State is still in position to claw its way back into the playoff discussion if it wins out, including the Pac-12 title.
As for Washington, they dropped to No. 12 after the loss in the desert. The Huskies’ drop was probably made worse by the fact that they haven’t played a ranked team yet and their signature win (so far) is over the Cal team that just smoked WSU. UW is in a better position than the Cougs as they’re strength of schedule will get better during the second half of the season..
USC, because of its win, vaulted past both Washington schools to become the No. 11 team in the country and the highest rated Pac-12 team in the poll. As for Stanford, the Cardinal moved up one spot to No. 22 after demolishing Oregon.
