In the week nine AP Poll, the USC Trojans fell to No. 21 after an embarrassing loss to Notre Dame in South Bend, Ind. While Washington State stayed at No. 15 after their first shutout in a conference game in 23 years.

The Trojans were ranked No. 11 in week eight’s poll but fell 10 spots in week nine after their 35-point loss to the Fighting Irish on Saturday night. As a result of that big margin of victory, Notre Dame moved up to No. 9; the Irish’s jump in spots was the largest movement in this week’s top-25.

The Huskies remained at No. 12 because of their bye week; while Stanford moved from No. 22 to No. 20 despite having their bye week as well. There wasn’t enough losses ahead of them in the rankings for either the Cougs or Dawgs to move up.

Iowa State made its first appearance in the AP Poll since 2005 as they rose to No. 25 after demolishing Texas Tech 31-13.
