Well I’m back. It took me long enough since my last article I wrote was a Super Bowl 51 preview. Let’s start by getting to a preview of Hockey’s ultimate championship.
In one corner we have an expansion franchise in the Vegas Golden Knights who in their inaugural season has made it to the Stanley Cup Finals. In the other corner we have the Washington Capitals who have exorcised quite a few demons during this NHL Playoff run. Alexander Ovechkin was finally able to defeat Sidney Crosby and the Pittsburgh Penguins. They also survived a tough 7-game series against the Tampa Bay Lighting.
Vegas has mopped the floor with pretty much everyone, the only series to go six games was a Western Conference Semifinals win over the San Jose Sharks. They also feel like a team of destiny. They are led by center Jonathan Marchessault and star goalie Marc-Andre Fleury.
A good question will be if Ovechkin will finally get over the hump and enter legendary status, or if this Vegas expansion franchise will win their first championship in their first season. Both teams have never won the Stanley Cup.
My Pick: Vegas in Six
That squad just has too much momentum, and with home-ice advantage, you can’t underestimate these Sin City warriors.
