Mike Zunino had an absurdly hot June in 2017, and the early returns in 2018 have been promising for Seattle’s starting catcher. Currently the catcher has a batting aveage of .250 (the highest in 2018) and he’s already clubbed his first dinger of the month…and it came at a clutch moment for the club
In his first plate appearance of the Mariners game in Houston, Texas (in the second inning) Zunino saw exactly two pitches. The first of those pitches was nice and inside, the second was in the middle of the plate about belt high. Zunino made starting pitcher Dallas Keuchel pay for it.
The month of Junino is in full swing. Speaking of full swings… #TrueToTheBlue pic.twitter.com/jw33taJFgu

The two-run shot increased Seattle’s lead to 6-0 in the top of the second inning as off of a pitcher that has given the franchise fits over the last few seasons. If Seattle can pick up the victory, it’ll increase its lead in the AL West to two whole baseball games over the Houston Astros.
