The BS Show – WSU football: Cougs knock off Coogs; it’s time to bludgeon the Bruins

We’re back with more WSU bonus BS for you, as the Cougs took down the Coogs in their first real test of the season, winning 31-24 on the road. Brent Schwartz is with me again to go over the week that was, and the week that will be. And hey, you’ll have a chance to listen to this before game day morning this week!

Brent got to see the entire game, while I only got to see the last quarter, so Brent recaps most of what happened, and tells you what you should think about it. We go over the key moments, highlighing Bryce Beekman’s key forced fumble, Tay Martin’s clutch plays, and Max Borghi closing out the game. We gushed about Anthony Gordon, as usual, but threw some love Brandon Arconado’s way as well with the breakout season he’s having. Cosmas Kwete also deserved some love, so we gave him some love.

Because the Cougs played a quality opponent, we actually had something to talk about in what we learned! We learned that while WSU is good, they’re not so talented that they can afford lapses in concentration, which almost cost them on Saturday. But they are talented enough that they’re likely to get everyone opponent’s best shot from here on out.

Gardner Minshew played a good game for the Jaguars, but another former Coug saw his first NFL action on Monday night, when Luke Falk relieved an injured Trevor Siemian, and played fairly well! Congrats to two great Cougs showing up big in the NFL.

We go around the Pac, and it was a mixed bag this week. ASU and Arizona bolstered the conference’s credibility with big wins, while Colorado, USC, and Stanford all suffered losses of different degrees of humiliation. Outside of next week’s opponents, the other teams faced bad teams and took care of business.

Next week’s opponent, however, was crushed by No. 5 Oklahoma, and Chip Kelly’s program looks to be a complete mess. Does that mean the Cougs should worry about this first game of conference play being a trap game? Definitely maybe! Kelly’s team has certainly underperformed its talent, but there is talent there, and we discuss how much the Cougs should fear the Bruins, if at all. It’s an hour and a half of Cougar content to help you make it through your week.

You’re welcome, and of course…Go Cougs!
