According to ESPN’s Jeff Passan, T-Mobile Park has been selected to host it’s first All Star game since 2001.

While the league has refused to confirm, or deny, that the All Star game is headed back to the Emerald City, it makes sense that they’ll go to a city (and state) that has yet to push an exclusionary policy agenda. This year Atlanta lost the All Star game after it’s state government pushed anti-voting laws and Colorado filled in admirably.

Last time Seattle hosted the All Star game was in 2001 when they won 116 games and sent eight representatives to the game. 2001 also marked the last time the Mariners made a playoff appearance as well.

I for one am pumped to see who the M’s roll out in the celebrity all star softball game. Do you think they stack one of the team’s with a bunch of retired franchise legends lik the Rockies did? Or do they trot out some Seattle’s local musical talent in order to emphasize the city’s part in the music industry?

Meanwhile, the 2021 Seattle Mariners chaos balled their way to a 5-4 win on Monday night against the Boston Red Sox and are now only two back of the second Wild Card slot.
